The UK toys and games industry is finally perking up for the first time in a rocky four years, it posted growth. The recession and the decreased popularity of games consoles perceived to be out of date meant sales slumped, but last year a splurge of new products – particularly from Sony and Microsoft – and a particularly strong performance by the video game industry provided a much-needed boost to the flagging industry. In the traditional toys and games sector, forthcoming products from Star Wars and LEGO are expected to be robust drivers of growth, and the release of new consoles is expected to bode well for the video games space.
