Are you looking for Sustainable Wholesale Suppliers?
Concern for the state of the planet and for the preservation of human rights in international trade is prevalent among UK consumers: a report published by the market research company Nielsen last year revealed that shoppers are three times more likely to buy environmentally friendly and fair trade products than in 2024, even if they are more expensive.
Looking for Sustainable Wholesale Suppliers?
Britain is a world-leader in Fair Trade products, so perhaps this growing inclination towards ethical buying among UK consumers shouldn’t be surprising: UK retailers sell over 4,500 certified goods from more than 340 companies and in 2013 sales of their products hit £1.78 billion, a 14% increase on 2012’s sales of £1.53 billion. You’ll find many of these ethically responsible, innovative and dynamic companies on our site.

Sustainable Wholesale Suppliers Market Overview
Direct Evaluate first-tier suppliers by using sustainability performance indicators that capture their requirements for lower-tier suppliers.
There are many ethical suppliers out there, but they often find themselves in a difficult situation. Many of these suppliers are struggling with sustainability issues themselves and are not able to provide the same level of products or services to their customers as they would like. It’s important to find ethical suppliers who can meet your specific needs. The best way to do that is to use sustainability performance indicators to evaluate the first-tier suppliers. These indicators will capture the supplier’s requirements for lower-tier suppliers and allow you to make an informed decision about which supplier to work with.
One in five retailers dropping suppliers over sustainability concerns, the report reveals
British retailers have collectively cancelled £7.1bn in contracts with suppliers over the past 12 months due to concerns regarding ethics and the environment, according to a new report by Barclays. The report found that one in five of Britain’s largest retailers had dropped at least one supplier due to sustainability concerns between January and December 2017. This figure is up from one in eight in 2016 and one in ten in 2015. The main areas of concern for British retailers were animal welfare, climate change, and labour issues. The majority of retailers (70%) said that environmental impact was the most important factor when it came to deciding which supplier to hire, and 53% said that ethical considerations were also critical. The report stated that the increase in sustainability concerns is likely a result of increased public scrutiny of the industry and heightened awareness of the effects of sourcing from unethical businesses.
Ethical Textile Brands to look out for:
Birch Fabrics is a company that makes 100% organic fabrics, which are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS). The GOTS certification ensures that Birch Fabrics fabrics are made from ethically and sustainably managed materials. In addition to the ethical fabric practices, Birch Fabrics also has a social responsibility program, which focuses on helping people in need. For example, the company has donated clothing and supplies to disaster relief efforts in Haiti, Chile, and Japan.
There has been a significant rise, for example, in the average ethically conscious household spend on clothes and home products: up to £48 in 2012 as compared to £23 in 2000 for clothes and up to £184 from just £59 for home products. Across the board, the main three reasons for consumers boycotting products are (from the top) labour standards, tax avoidance and violations of human rights.
