Counterfeit goods seized in Norfolk
A Norfolk-based eBay seller has been given a conditional discharge after it was discovered she was selling counterfeit goods.
The fake goods, which were seized by officers following purchases on the internet trading site eBay, included a variety of products ranging from clothes to jewellery, according to EDP24.
Despite previous warnings to check whether she was selling-on counterfeit materials, the defendant was found in possession of more than 100 fake goods.
Andrew McArdle, prosecuting for Norfolk County Council, said that while the defendant had committed a crime, it was very difficult to determine whether the goods were fake or not, for they were convincing imitations.
He told the news provider: "What's difficult is being able to tell what's real. Even trading standards had to send them off to the manufacturers. [The defendant] is just a person who didn't take enough precaution to check the stuff out."
The female seller was given a conditional discharge for three years and told to pay £250 costs.
