Consumers comparing retail prices with mobile phones

UK shoppers are frequently using their mobile phones as a way of comparing retail prices, it has been claimed.

That is according to figures from Motorola Inc. Enterprise Mobility Solutions, which reveals that during the busy festive period more than 50 per cent of consumers in 11 different countries used their mobile to compare product prices.

The organisation also concluded that the recent advances in mobile technology were having a marked impact on the nature of high street shopping by way of altering how consumers make their retail decisions.

Frank Riso, senior director of retail solutions, at Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions, said that the improvement in the quality of mobile devices was aiding the consumer ahead of the retailer.

He said: "By utilising mobile technologies, consumers have become empowered, better informed and more critical shoppers."

People aged between 18 and 34 were found to use such technologies even more often when shopping, with 64 per cent revealing they used their mobile while shopping during the holiday season.
