Wholesaler praises local retailer
A local retailer from West Yorkshire has scooped a number of awards for his operations.
The Dewsbury Reporter claimed that Raj Patel, the owner of the Morley Service Station and Brookfield News, won the Independent Forecourt Store Retailer of the Year and another award at this year's Retailer Excellence Awards.
Awarded by independent wholesaler Palmer and Harvey, the prizes were designed to recognise best practice and retail excellence among the company's 20,500-strong customer base of independent convenience stores and garages.
In particular, judges from the wholesaler praised Mr Patel's commitment to the local community, his product range and how he laid out his stores.
They also said that his merchandising and consumer promotions were excellent.
A recent report from Crafted Media suggested that many small retailers in the UK were missing out on sales opportunities by not embracing online channels.
Brad Warwick, co-founder and business development director at Crafted Media, commented: "In the current economic climate, where every marketing penny needs to be spent wisely, many companies underestimate the power of an effective website or online marketing campaign."
