Walsall developer backs Dragon's Den style competition
A leading developer in the West Midlands has revealed that it is backing a new competition that will identify would-be entrepreneurs.
Dominic Goold from Walsall is currently involved in the regeneration of the borough through a range of developments, including the flagship St Matthew's Quarter, and he is now calling on people with innovative business ideas to enter a new Dragon's Den-style competition.
Mr Goold, who runs Goold Estates, wants to help local entrepreneurs "make their business dreams a reality" and discover untapped talent in the Black Country, the Walsall Advertiser reports.
"There may be fantastic people out there with ground-breaking ideas but we need to provide the opportunities and encourage those people to come forward to exploit the new and emerging economic possibilities that are out there," he declared.
First prize in the competition is a laptop, free business advice from Lloyds TSB Bank and £5,000 worth of office or workshop space for a year at the new Works@Rubery Owen business and enterprise centre, Darlaston, alongside other start-ups.
Dragon's Den is a venture capitalist programme screened on BBC Two that provide would-be entrepreneurs with the opportunity to secure financial backing and support for their businesses from a panel of tycoons.
