Toiletries wholesaler falls into administration
Vitality Group, the largest independent toiletries wholesaler in the south-east, has fallen into receivership following a period of "cashflow difficulties".
MCR, the company appointed as administrator, revealed that it is working to save the company and sell its business "as a going concern".
The Tottenham Hale-based firm operates Marsham, a wholesaler-to-wholesaler division; CBS Genios, a wholesale supplier to pharmacies; and Stephens Shopdrop, a wholesale distributor to convenience and pound stores.
It has been in business for more than 25 years and currently employs a staff of 55 workers.
Commenting on the situation, MCR's Andrew Stoneman said: "It is too early to determine the reasons why the company has gone into administration.
"What is certain at this stage is that the company suffered cashflow difficulties and we are reviewing the underlying reasons."
In other news, the Bertrams Group reportedly planned to order £8 million worth of new book stock last week.
Following its buyout by Smiths News, the wholesaler hopes to be operating at normal stock levels by the end of April, according to the Bookseller.
