Thornaby shopping centre to provide space for small retailers

A new planned shopping centre for Thornaby town centre is poised to provide retail space for both multinationals and small independent retailers.

While the multi-million pound scheme is set to attract large companies such as Asda, Wilkinsons and New Look, there will also be room available for smaller independent firms, the Northern Echo operates.

Andrew Sanderson, a director at Thornfield, a private development company involved with the build, claimed that regional retailers would also benefit from the scheme, with thousands of square feet or space available.

"We are attracting interest from larger well-known regional brands, as well as local independent operators, and we hope to announce further tenants shortly." he said.

And with regional companies likely to receive an increase in exposure and prominence from the new site, the build will also benefit wholesalers which could see an increase in orders as small firms boost their sales.
