Spring Fair Parking Latest

Tomorrow (Friday 6th March) is the last day for exhibitors to get their ‘priority’ rebooking forms in for Spring Fair International 2010.

Unfortunately the question of parking charges for visitors to the trade show has reared it’s ugly head again.

Last December EMAP announced that it was intending to charge visitors £8 per day to park at the NEC Birmingham only to withdraw this threat in January after apparently consulting with the trade. We have yet to find any exhibitor or visitor who was consulted over this matter although it is clear that many contacted the organisers to make their feeling known in no uncertain terms.

Many in the trade have suspected that the stand down was nothing to do with the feelings of exhibitors and visitors to Spring Fair but more to do with the fact that there was no provision in the Terms and Conditions for this year’s show that would allow EMAP to change the show so dramatically. With many exhibiting companies forced into a position where they had to cancel maybe EMAP felt there was too much of a risk that some of those could have demanded a refund on the basis that it would be fair to assume that such a long running show that has always been free to park at would continue as such unless it had been made clear before people had commited to rebooking their stands.

How unfortunate it is then that while EMAP has slipped this new clause in (20.7 under General) the sales team seem to be so reluctant to mention this change to exhibitors rebooking for Spring Fair 2010.
