Spring Fair 2009 visitor parking charges postponed

The organisers of Spring Fair 2009 have announced that the proposed visitor parking charges for this year's trade show have been postponed.

Emap stated that this decision was made ‘after consultation with retailers and suppliers across the various sectors that make up the show'. The feeling amongst exhibitors and visitors at Torquay Fair last week was one of resignation that this has indeed only been postponed and that you can almost guarantee that the option to charge visitors to park will be included in the terms and conditions for next year’s show.

As news of this stand down spread, exhibitors were heard to comment that what did they expect the reaction to be when Emap consulted exhibitors and visitors as to whether or not they would like to be charged £8 to park at the NEC!

So soon after the hugely unpopular Mandatory Media Charges being forced upon exhibitors and with Spring Fair, along with many other shows, struggling to fill all their space, this further charge would have been a step too far.
