The local Isle of Wight County Press reported that the group, which is to be called the IOW View From The Top, is being organised by the owner of a local training company. Other early members of the group include the owners of Usborne Books, Radi8 and the Rainbow Directory. Founder Maggie Currie explained to the islandpulse.co.uk website that the group would "allow people to build good connections" and that the meetings would be carefully scheduled to fit around the demands of small business owners. She added that it would have "no formal membership policy" and would hope to support sole traders on the island. Recently, local business leaders on the Isle of Wight warned that poor marketing and promotion meant that the area's tourism revenues for the summer could be around £50 million lower than expected.   (c) 2008 Adfero Ltd.
