Seller group slams eBay for 'harmful' changes
The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance (Pesa) has strongly criticised a raft of amendments rolled out by the online auction house.
Issuing a scathing indictment of eBay, Pesa said that merchants would be hurt by the modifications to fee structures and the way that buyers leave feedback for transactions.
Among the changes is the introduction of Detailer Seller Ratings, which allow customers to rate sellers for accuracy of item description, communication, delivery time, and postage charges.
While Pesa accepted the potential benefits of more-specific feedback utilities, it said the new system is not "accurately capturing what the true buyer experience is".
The alliance warned of a potential fallout for its 700 members - the majority of whom are Platinum PowerSellers that sell at least £15,000 in gross merchandise per month.
"Their livelihood is being threatened because the marketplace isn't doing as well as a lot of PowerSellers think it could," Pesa executive director Jonathan Garriss complained.
In related news, eBay has confirmed that it is axing ten per cent of its workforce in a bid to "streamline" operations.
