Retailers urged to act on climate change
Retailers should do more to ensure that they are effectively tackling climate change, experts have warned.
According to the Green Consultancy, despite efforts to raise the profile of eco-awareness many firms could still put more practices in place to tackle environmental problems.
John Treble, managing director of the company, revealed that retailers and other companies could not rest on their laurels while there was still so much work to be done.
There is a greater awareness than there was a few years ago. Climate change is in the media everyday…but in general there is a huge amount of work still to be done," he said.
"When...we do surveys to identify the opportunities for reducing carbon consumption, it is certainly true to say that the percentage of what we recommend...that is implemented is nowhere near enough. It needs to be given much higher priority," Mr Treble added.
Meanwhile, research by Johnson Controls has revealed that some 72 per cent of companies say that they are paying more attention to green issues than they were a year ago.
