Online dealers deterred by cyber crime
A number of wholesalers and online retailers are deterred from conducting more online business by internet crime, experts have claimed.
According to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) a number of tradespeople do less business on the internet than they would like to due to the fear of becoming a victim of web-based fraud.
A spokesperson for the FSB revealed that around one fifth of online retailers were concerned about the safety of the internet.
She said: "We had some interesting stats in the last survey we did, saying that about 20 per cent of businesses were actually deterred from making greater use of online trading because of the fear of online crime and the fear of card fraud."
Meanwhile, research by Get Safe Online revealed that 44 per cent of small business had been the victim of some sort of identity theft.
