Government needs to raise small business legal awareness
The government must take steps to ensure small businesses, like wholesalers and independent retailers, are made aware of changes to their legal responsibility, experts have claimed.
According to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), legal changes relevant to small and medium enterprises should be more widely publicised.
Simon Briault, a spokesman for the group, claimed that a better notification of such amendments would lead to a decrease in legal breaches.
He said: "If the government is going to change employment laws in this country…then we think that they need to make a special effort to publicise these changes to small businesses so that…they can make sure that they are complying with the law and don't get caught out because they didn't know about something.
He also claimed that smaller firms needed to be made aware of changes that could affect their entitlements or confer benefits upon them.
