FWD outline annual conference plans

The Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) has announced plans to hold its annual conference from March 31st to April 1st.

The meeting will be taking place at the Forest of Arden Hotel and the FWD has unveiled a number of speakers for the event.

David Kirwan, past national president of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, will be in attendance, as will Dennis and Linda Williams of Premier Broadway Star.

Representatives from Bestway, Booker, Costco, Edwin Coe Solicitors, Gallaher, Heinz, Landmark, Musgrave, Nielsen and The Today's Group will also feature.

Meanwhile, US wholesale prices increased in 2007, according to new research.

The US Commerce Department revealed that the cost of wholesale goods in the country rose by 6.3 per cent over the year.

At the same time retail sales in the US dipped in December, falling by 0.4 per cent across the month.
