eBay to ban e-cigarettes

eBay is to ban the sale of e-cigarettes on its ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie websites.

The new policy change, set to take effect on June 30th, will prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes by all eBay users.

The online trading site will also ban the sale of all components of the e-cigarette, including cartridges, liquid refills and batteries.

While little has been made of the product in the UK, the debate surrounding the controversial product in the US has gained momentum recently.

Health charities have suggested the product should be banned, while manufacturers remain adamant that it is far healthier than a traditional cigarette and could help people quit.

Erika Sward, director of national advocacy at the American Lung Association, highlighted the main concern for a number of charities.

She said: "Nobody knows what the consumers are actually inhaling."

eBay is to also implement a new policy preventing the sale of manufacturers' vouchers and coupons on the website.
