eBay abandons buyer negative comments
eBay are set to block sellers attempts to leave negative feedback for purchasers on the online community.
Currently users of the auction website can leave feedback regardless of whether they are buyers or sellers but new moves will stop sellers making appraisals of purchasers of their goods.
The move, which will come into force in May, could affect both retailers and wholesalers who use the site as they will no longer be able to differentiate between reliable and unreliable purchasers.
A spokesman for the website revealed that the steps were taken to ensure that sellers who received negative feedback could not retaliate by leaving unjustified comments.
Revealing that the aim was to attract more buyers to the community, the spokesman said: "Some sellers are gaming the system. And some buyers in turn have been turned off."
It is thought the steps have been taken to improve the fortunes of eBay which has been dogged with fraud problems and increased competition from other internet retailers.
