Culture capital status still boosting Liverpool retail

The Liverpool Daily Post reports that the planning which was put into the cultural celebrations and the success that they delivered have placed the City’s traders in good stead, despite the recession.

According to the head of the city's Business Improvement District, a number of visitors are returning after discovering it during the Liverpool 08 event.

Ged Gibbons told the paper: "People come to places where they feel safe and where they enjoy the environment.

"A lot of what we are doing to make Liverpool attractive is telling people it’s a safe place to come and see - and we are now seeing a lot of repeat visitors from people who came and enjoyed the offer during Capital of Culture."

In other news, retailers have been urged to carefully check invoices from their suppliers and wholesalers after a range of organisations in Glasgow were targeted with hoax documents as part of a scam, the Kirkintilloch Herald reported.
