British consumers 'happy to buy fake goods'
A report has warned that many British consumers are setting a bad example for their children by knowingly buying fake goods.
Microsoft published data that showed that more than a third of UK adults have purchased counterfeit goods in the recent past, the Glasgow Daily Record reported.
It added that people had bought counterfeit goods ranging from "football shirts and designer handbags to music and software".
What's more, the research suggested that the habit of buying fakes was rubbing off on children. In fact, 61 per cent of children in the UK admitted they had already deliberately purchased counterfeit items.
Recently, Welsh trading standards officers launched a campaign to educate consumers about how to spot fake products on sale.
One officer explained to the local Port Talbot Guardian that if "something seems too good to be true it probably is".
He added: "Take extra care when buying from street markets, car boot sales and pubs."
