Bathroom retailers advised to sell gadgets

Wholesale suppliers of bathroom accessories are beginning to stock a wide range of high-tech gadgets, as consumer demand increases.

That is according to the Daily Record, which suggests that a growing number of buyers are transforming their bathrooms with waterproof electronics, including flat-screen televisions and mp3 players.

As if that isn't enough, it also reported that modern bathrooms are even being created that incorporate things such as fridges and chromotherapy, which uses lights to change the colour of the water to suit the consumer's mood.

Bathroom retailers would do well to stock a wider range of such high-tech products because more homeowners are renovating their bathrooms than ever before, one wholesaler suggested.

Walter Toward, director of Wholesale Domestic Bathroom Suppliers, told the newspaper: "Many people are moving forward with the bathroom layout.

"Life-enhancing showers and therapeutic whirlpool baths add to a more relaxing bathing experience."

In February, more than 100 jobs were saved at a kitchen and bathroom accessories manufacturer and supplier in Doncaster after it was taken out of administration.

Executives Bridie Warner-Adsetts and Andrew Thorpe completed a management buyout of BLP UK, which will now trade as BLP Furniture Components Limited.
