Around the world in a tea daze
A former Royal Navy officer has managed to secure the future of his small business after negotiating wholesale deals with companies in the UK and Nigeria.
According to a report on the local portsmouth.co.uk website, Andrew Gadsden has seen his specialist tea business grow from not much more than a hobby to an international operation in a little more than a year.
Former Royal Navy officer Gadsden supplies connoisseur blends of teas to businesses and consumers across the globe and has recently secured two vital five-figure per-month wholesale contracts to deliver his blends to retailers in Nigeria and London.
"I think the market is growing. More tea is still drunk in Britain than coffee, and perhaps we just don't realise it," Mr Gadsden explained to the website.
"My hope is that, in the future, it will be as trendy to drink tea on the high street as it is to drink lattes in Costa or Starbucks."
The wholesaler revealed that his website had been critical to securing contracts from across the world.
He is hoping that he will soon be able to clinch wholesale deals in China - one of the world's largest tea consumers.
