Ambitious Britons hope to own businesses
Millions of Brits are hoping to ditch their current day jobs and start their own companies and independent stores, new research has revealed.
According to a study by Business Link, around ten million employees are hoping to become the next budding Branson or successful Sugar.
One of the key reasons behind the interest in entrepreneurship was finance, with 37 per cent wanting to earn more money; a further two-in-five workers were looking for more flexibility by becoming their own boss.
Commenting on the study, Rosemary French, of Business Link said: "It's encouraging to see how many people dream of setting up their own business to enjoy the flexibility and benefits of working for themselves.
"The research also showed that nearly as many women as men are keen to become their own boss."
The yearning for more workers to become independent retailers and small business owners could provide a welcome boost to the wholesale industry - with new clients likely cause an increase in their sales.
